Tomás Moulian: An expert on my field
On my field, I admire people that mean a contribution for the sociology. In Latin America, some sociologists have done contributions in the study of the continent's reality, for example, the sociologists of the "Dependency Theory". But, in this post Im going to write about Tomás Moulian, a chilean sociologist, because I think that is important recover his work; in Chile don't have sociologists recognized to the level University of Sao Paulo or National Autonomous University of Mexico, the sociological production in our country is very lacking, so Tomás Moulian is an exception and represent an exponent of the chilean, critical and marxist thinking .
The Moulian's work is about economic-social structure, stratification and social problems. His books more prominents are "El consumo me consume", "Chile actual: anatomía de un mito", "La forja de ilusiones: El sistema de partidos", "Socialismo del siglo XXI: la quinta vía", "En la brecha. Derechos Humanos, críticas y alternativas". He worked in FLACSO, an important organization for Latin America and the Caribbean, dedicated to research, teaching and spreading of social sciences. Also, he was the rector of the ARCIS University. His production is very important for me, because I think that allow understand the social problems, especially the inequality and the consequences.

NYC: My best vacation place
In the winter's holidays of this year, I went to New York City in United States, because a exiled partner invited me and I only paid my ticket. That was so good, because NYC is very expensive, especially the play to stay. I stayed in Long Island, in the my partner's house, in a beautiful and calm place. I travelled with my uncle, because he is the cousin of my partner.
I could meet a lot of places, I went to Wall Street (in the first photograph), Time Square, St Francisco Bridge, Central Park, 5th Avenue, Jones Beach, The Madame Tussaud's museum, Chinatown, The little Italy, and Statue of Liberty.
When I travelled to NYC was my first time on board an airplane and the experience was so
excited.
The holidays were so good, because I could know an important part of the country through the perspectives of sudamerican, indian and american people. I learnt that the country doesn't guarantee minimum social rights so, I could confirm that the economic and social model is bad, because is so unequal.

Chile, 1971 - Raymond Depardon
This photograph was taken in 1971, in the Fundo forestier of Santa Adriana, near to Nacimiento, VIII region of Chile. The photograph was taken by Raymond Depardon, a french photographer and documentary filmmaker. The photograph belongs to the Raymond's collection "Chile, 1971". Raymond took a lot of photographs in Chile that year, because he was interested in the Salvador Allende's government and in the socialist experience. I love this photograph, because represent the experience of fight and organization of the workers. The farmers, for first time in the history of Chile, tried require his rights. The sign shows how the farmers don't accept more exploitation and how they report to his employer. Also, the photograph shows the organization of the farmers through the "Unión Campesina Revolucionaria".
The quality and the resolution of the photograph is very high and the colors are very good.
I think that this photograph can shows the situation of a important period in the history of Chile, especially for the workers.

Dancer in the Dark
I don't have a favorite movie, but I can say that I have a favorite film director. My favorite film director is Lars Von Trier and his movies are my favorites. Lars Von Trier is danish and he is associated with the movement "Dogme 95". Lars Von Trier concentrate on the story and the actor's performances.
Today, I'm going to talk about a beautiful movie of Lars Von Trier: "Dancer in the Dark", starring icelandic singer Björk. The movie was premiered at the 2000 Cannes Film Festival and was awarded with the "Palma de Oro".
The movie is filmed at Washington, United States. Selma (Björk) is a czech inmigrant who has moved to United States with her son. Selma has a hereditary degenerative disease which is gradually causing her to go blind. For that reason, Selma moved to U.S., to look for a work and can save money to pay for an operation which will prevent her little son from suffering the same fate. Selma works a lot and to escape the misery of her daily life, she slips into hallucinations where she imagines the ordinary circumstances with ordinary people into a music theater number.
My favorite part is the end of the film. The song of the end, written and sing for Björk is perfect for that moment and her performance is amazing!
I love the film, because shows the reality: the poverty, treachery for money and the ugly part of the world. I hate the movies with perfect end.

Notebook HP Envy x2: My favorite piece of technology
My favorite piece of technology is my notebook. The model of my notebook is HP Envy x2 and is so cool, because is a tablet and a computer at the same time. It's very light, pretty and easy to use. I bought my notebook about two years ago, because I thought that it was very necessary for the university.
I use my notebook everyday, for different reasons: I use the tablet of my notebook for university things, especially for read, because is very useful. I love facebook, so I use my notebook for that too. I think that facebook is a good social network to speak with friends of old times. Other use is for see movies, because with my account in netflix I can see a lot of movies all time.
I think that my life would be more complicated without my notebook, because I should spend more money to print texts and I couldn't speak regularly with my friends through facebook.

Hi everybody! Today, I'm going to write about my subjects in this term. I have five subjects in sociology: "Teoría Sociológica II", "Técnicas cuantitativas II", "Epistemología", "Economía II" and "Estadística III". My favourite subject is "Economía II", because I think that is very useful to can understand the problems in the society and the behavior of the people.
During my free time, I'm doing work in the memory's group of at university, because I think that the vision of the memory must be change; sometimes in the society, the vision of the memory is sad and the example of fight is not recovered.
My expect from this new academic period is learn and development the critical thinking skills.
